Let’s get things straight.
You don’t grow by standing still.
And in recruitment, the only constant is change.

Right now, we’re not in a candidate-short market anymore.
We’re in a SALES-constrained market.
finding opportunity.
Your job is to sell. Daily. With discipline. With systems. With strategy.

And that means one thing:
Adaptability isn’t optional – it’s survival.

Green and
Growing vs. Ripe
and Rotting

job confidence
This isn’t just a cute saying. It’s your wake-up call.

When you’re green and growing, you’re learning, evolving, questioning, investing, testing, and improving.

When you’re ripe and rotting, you’re clinging to old ways, resisting change, and pretending that what used to work still works.

Let me put it another way:

“The moment you think you’ve arrived is the moment you start the rot.”

job confidence

“But This
Used to Work…”

Yes, it did. But relying on yesterday’s tactics in today’s market is like sending a fax to close a deal.

We’re not saying throw the baby out with the bathwater.
But if you’re not layering new strategies on top of proven foundations, you’re choosing to be irrelevant.

It’s time to alter the path, not abandon the mission.

The 20-Mile
March: Adaptation
with Discipline

Borrowed from Jim Collins’ Great by Choice, the 20-Mile March is the idea of doing a consistent, disciplined amount of work every single day – rain or shine, crisis or calm.

In recruitment today, that means:

Making your calls – even when no one’s answering.

Sending follow-ups – even when no one replies.

Building your brand – even when you feel invisible.

Selling – especially when it’s hard.

The 20-Mile March is how great recruiters outperform average ones in uncertain markets.

Adaptability doesn’t mean flailing around in chaos.
It means having the flexibility to evolve AND the discipline to show up daily.

The Curious
Ones Win

Ask yourself:

– Are you reading industry shifts?

– Are you testing new tech?

– Are you investing in better messaging, outreach, and relationships?

– Do you have a coach, mentor, or peer group?

– Are you working on yourself every damn day?

Because the most successful people in recruitment don’t wing it.
They’re obsessed with growth – in skills, habits, knowledge, and execution.
They’re green. Always.

So… Are You
Kermit or a
Rotting Banana?

Silly? Maybe.
But it makes the point.

Kermit is green and growing – optimistic, curious, proactive.
A rotting banana? Well… soft, brown, bitter, and full of excuses.

Final Word: Sales Is the Constraint.
Adapt or Rot.

This market has changed. Have you?

If you’re still working like it’s 2021, you’re in trouble.
If your team isn’t adapting, learning, and selling every single day,
you’re not in the game.

Be disciplined. Be flexible.
Adapt fast. March forward. Stay green.
