Win With Warmth, Not Force

I want you to be successful.

Truly successful.

And that means doing sales the ‘right’ way.

Have courage. Smile. Be people-smart.

There’s an old fable that every sales professional should remember – the story of ‘the Sun and the Wind’.

The Sun and the Wind argued about who was stronger.

The Wind said, “I’ll prove it. See that old man down there wearing a coat? I bet I can make him take it off faster than you.”

So, the Sun slipped behind the clouds…and the Wind blew.

Harder. Faster. Fiercer – until it was almost a tornado.

But the harder the Wind blew, the tighter the old man clutched his coat.

Eventually, exhausted, the Wind gave up.

Then the Sun came out from behind the clouds and smiled warmly at the man.

Soon, the man wiped his brow… and gently took off his coat.

The lesson? Gentleness and friendliness are stronger than force and fury – every time.

And this is a powerful reminder for sales today.

We live in a world that often rewards:

  • Loud voices
  • Speed
  • Aggression
  • Splash over substance

But those rewards are short-lived.

Real sales success – the kind that lasts – is built on:

  • Trust
  • Mutual benefit
  • Courtesy
  • Human connection

If you don’t begin every interaction in a friendly way, everything else becomes harder to earn – day by day.

So, here’s your reminder this week: He who shows courtesy, reaps friendship.

And friendship is the foundation of trust. Trust is the foundation of sales.

And sales built this way… last.

Stay warm. Stay human. And let the Sun do its work. ☀️
